Wool Fur Coats

Most times, natural materials are preferred over synthetic textiles. Choosing products made from natural sources is becoming more and more popular in a time where ecology is a top priority and people think a great deal about sustainability and the impact purchases and actions have on the environment. This is not just with clothing, but with many aspects of life.

Wool clothing is a wonderful winter time material that provides a great deal of warmth and has a natural, comfortable appearance and feel. There are many different types of wool that are used in different articles of clothing, and they all have that natural look and feel that you can enjoy.

There are many different types of wool with the most coming from sheep and there are even varying degrees of fineness. The thickest, coarsest wool is usually reserved for use on outerwear such as coats and jackets. This type of wool provides a great deal of warmth, but can be itchy to the skin, so it is best in coats that will not be touching the skin.

Other various types of wool are less scratchy and make comfortable suits, sweaters, socks and other garments. Wool from merino sheep is very soft and warm and is more expensive that other types of wool.

Perhaps the most expensive type of wool comes from cashmere goats. Cashmere is made of the downy wool under the thick hairy layer of these goats. It is extra fine, very warm and luxurious to the touch when woven into sweaters, scarves or other garments.

Woolen clothing is not only warm but it looks great. Suits and slacks made of wool have a dressy appearance but can also be made to look business casual. It is an ideal material for clothing to be worn to work as it looks great and keeps you warm, but also regulates your body temperature and won’t cause you to overheat while in the office.

Because it is a natural animal product, wool goes great with other such materials. The wool fur combination is a favorite in coats and jackets. A coat made of wool with a fur lining or a wool fur trim hat both looks great and provides warmth and protection from the cold.

Wool and fur seem to be made to go together. Because of their natural sources, they complement each other well. The wool of a coat can be rather rough, while the fur lining is soft and luxurious. This is what makes it an excellent combination.

When choosing a winter coat, don’t overlook the wool versions. Everybody should have a wool coat, which will usually serve as a dress coat. You can choose from a wide range of styles, cuts and colors to suit your taste and wardrobe, and if you opt for one with a wool fur lined hood, you are ready to make a statement this winter!
