Picking Wool 100 Percent Pure

Since what we wear can say a lot about our personality, clothing is a fascinating thing indeed. This means that we choose clothing that appeals to our personal taste. Some people put comfort at the top of their priority list while others don't value that as much as how good it looks.

Contributing to the difference in clothing is not only the cut and style, but probably equally important is the material from which it is made. For warmer weather seasons, cool, light materials such as silk and linen work very well. Natural cottons, fur and wool work well for colder weather conditions.

Wool has been worn for warmth throughout the centuries. These fibers from the coat of sheep have the most excellent ability to keep body warmth maximized. Wool is also breathable, so it won’t make you sweat once you go from the freezing outdoor into a warm, indoor environment. It regulates your body temperature well.

Some other great qualities of wool are that it is natural, and renewable. It is said to be hypoallergenic and it even has antibacterial qualities that keep it from smelling bad if you sweat. This makes some types of light and soft wool, such as merino, great for athletic wear!

A courser wool can be used in coats and other outerwear, since it doesn’t come into direct contact with the skin. Finer wool such as 220 wool is much softer and can be used in top quality suits and slacks.

With some types of wool 100 percent content would not be suitable so it is blended with silk, fur or other textiles to soften it. On the other hand, a sweater made of cashmere wool 100 percent is softer than any other type of wool or wool blend! This type of wool comes from the downy under-coat of a cashmere goat and is extremely soft, light and warm. It feels wonderful to the touch but is on the pricey side.

One thing to remember with wool is that usually it will have to be dry cleaned. In some cases you can hand wash with a delicate detergent, but either way, most wool takes extra special care. In saying that though, some types of wool can actually be machine washed! For example, the merino wool used in athletic apparel is machine washable, which is much more convenient and affordable.

For a natural, environmentally friendly and very effective warm weather textile, wool can’t be beat. It comes in different grades from the fine 220 wool right down to the wool used in outerwear that is known for being warm but it itchier. If you are in the market for some winter clothing, from socks to coats, sweaters, slacks or any other article of clothing, there is a type of wool 100 percent pure to be found!
