Merino Wool Long Underwear: Keeping Out the Chill

When the weather turns chilly one of the things everyone thinks about is how to stay warm while going about your daily lives. Out come the sweaters and coats; it’s time to dress in layers! This can be frustrating and it can be hard to get the right amount of coverage, since sometimes you may be wearing too much and are hot while indoors and sometimes you just feel cold. You may find that getting a good pair of long underwear can solve this problem.

Beware that some synthetic underwear and even cotton and synthetic blends are not breathable enough. Sure they may provide some warmth, but you may also find yourself sweating, which is not good. A much better option is the natural merino wool long underwear.

Woolen underwear may not sound all that comfy, but merino wool long underwear is actually very comfortable. Unlike other types of wool that might have you scratching your way through the day, merino wool is very soft, while also being warm.

Besides being soft and warm, merino wool is also very breathable, allowing your body to regulate its temperature beautifully. Unlike other types of underwear, it has the antibacterial properties of wool, which make it great for keeping your sweat from smelling strongly.

Merino long underwear is a great choice for anyone living in a cold climate. Instead of having to layer your clothing that you have to keep adding and removing depending on where you are, just this layer under your clothing will keep you warm, but not too warm.

If you are into sports and outdoor events, a merino wool base layer is excellent for keeping in heat while you participate in activities such as skiing, hiking, biking and running. Again, it is excellent for the cases when you will be sweating, but there are many other reasons it’s such a great choice.

A merino wool base layer provides you with the best material you can have against your skin in a cold environment. It keeps in warmth and although it absorbs water, it retains its warmth throughout, helping you to stay warm and avoid hypothermia in winter sports.

Merino wool is ideal as a natural and non-bulky way to keep yourself warm, whether you are just heading out to a day at work or are planning a week long hiking trek in the winter. It is renewable and better for the environment, and as with many natural products, it is a better option for you personally.

Merino base layers and long underwear can be found in varying thicknesses so you can choose exactly how much warmth you want. For a winter camping trip or hike up to a snowy peak you may opt for something thicker, and save the thinner ones for wearing on a daily basis or when the weather isn’t so cold.

Merino wool is the perfect example of how wool doesn’t have to be itchy and uncomfortable. It is soft and warm and very versatile.
